Why QR codes are Eco friendly.

Think about it, as a nation we use paper products practically everyday. Not to mention how much we waste of those paper products. While in a perfect world we would all recycle but seeing how that is just not the case yet, we need to look at other options. These more eco-friendly options can please us as well as the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency). While I know many of you may be thinking that QR codes are mostly printed on posters and bulletin boards across the U.S. but that’s just it. QR codes are not being mailed out in mass quantities to every home in the states, therefore, saving trees.

Not only does it help the environment, the eco-friendliness of the codes means faster production times with newspapers and magazines. With the use of QR codes and technology, the use of paper and ink are virtually obsolete. You use less energy to run print machines and that also means journalists have a little extra time to get their pieces in before a deadline. Not to mention having a QR code instead of a physical paper or magazine makes things more convenient for the reader. If they don’t want to read about sports or want to look at apartment ads, they don’t need to, they simply scan a QR code that is in the section of the newspaper or magazine they want and then instantly are taken to the lifestyles section or to that great article about how to lose 10 pounds in 10 minutes.

All in all, QR codes are more eco-friendly because they require less paper products. But they can also save companies money by having to print less, not just save on paper. Companies can also use QR codes for business cards, thus saving some green by being green. The possibilities are really endless, QR codes are changing the way we view print ads, newspapers, and magazines. Since we can view these things on our mobile phones or iPads, it makes our viewing easier and more friendly to mother earth.

For example, a company in California called Get Rebounding, an eco-friendly company that promotes healthy living, are using QR codes. They have them in the use of “eco rewards” that their consumers can redeem for discounts or special offers. What is even more astounding about this company is that they devote an entire page of their site to how much they love QR codes. They state that QR codes truly are an incredibly eco-friendly way to advertise. They also point customer in the direction of a QR code management system that the company uses called, QRreateBUZZ. So not only are they using QR codes themselves to help the environment they are guiding their customers in the right direction as well.

It’s only a matter of time before everyone is using QR codes for personal use. There are several reasons why. QR codes are a way to electronically communicate in marketing. Marketers can track use of QR codes and how often they are actually used for buying and discount codes.
